The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has issued an advisory to the traveling public: the Jackson Street Bridge, also identified as Bridge #084000150100111—a key thoroughfare spanning the Red River between Alexandria and Pineville—will undergo a temporary closure. The scheduled shutdown will take place today and tomorrow, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., weather permitting.
The DOTD has cited “routine bridge inspection and routine bridge maintenance” as the reasons for the temporary inconvenience. During the inspection period, vehicles will be rerouted via I-49 and US 167, with the Purple Heart Memorial Bridge serving as the designated alternate route.
As traffic is redirected onto designated detours, commuters are advised to adjust to the changes in their routes. The department encourages motorists to drive with caution around construction zones and remain vigilant for work crews and equipment.
