The Broward Sheriff's Office has reported the takedown of ten alleged leading members of the Sex, Money, Murder Blood gang following a meticulous investigation spanning several years. According to NBC Miami, the suspects have been implicated in a variety of violent activities throughout Florida, with charges including conspiracy to commit murder, directing gang activity, and money laundering.
Among those arrested are Damian Thompson, Ridge Wietsma, and Quam’ani Floyd, all apprehended in Broward County and are now facing charges related to racketeering. WSVN reported, another suspect Hank Edwards, was already in custody in Miami-Dade County at the time of the charges. The gang's nefarious operations are said to have included firearms, drug trafficking, fraud, and money laundering activities across the state.
Detectives spearheading the investigation succeeded in uncovering a "kill list" drawn up by the gang, notifying the potential victims and thus averting planned attacks. This major sweep, coordinated by both local and state law enforcement in April, led to the arrests being made across multiple counties, including Alachua, Polk, Seminole, and St. Johns. They unearthed an arsenal of weapons and a substantial stash of drugs during search warrants executed in Pembroke Pines, Lauderhill, and other locations.
BSO's Gang Task Force, emphasized the collaborative effort in the arrests, with the operation spreading to several Florida counties for those implicated in the Sex, Money, Murder Blood gang's criminal network. In the course of the operation, firearms, gang paraphernalia, and trafficking amounts of various narcotics such as cannabis, meth, and fentanyl were recovered from several properties. All 10 suspects are being charged in Highlands County and are expected to face prosecution there, according to NBC Miami.
The BSO has confirmed that their probe into the gang's activities is continuing and encourages anyone with relevant information to come forward. Tips can be submitted anonymously to Broward Crime Stoppers by calling 954-493-TIPS or visiting their website.
