As per the information from the Daily Herald, the Antioch Fire Department was dispatched at approximately 12:42 p.m. to the 26000 block of West Oak Avenue. They encountered a substantial blaze amidst the marshland at the rear of a residential area populated by trailers.
Firefighting units different jurisdictions, included professionals from nearby towns such as Lake Village, Fox Lake, and Spring Grove. Assistance was also summoned from as far away as Wisconsin, with contingents coming from Salem Lakes to support the extinguishing efforts. The conflagration consumed three hours for the responders to manage, though they prevailed in safeguarding all residences. Despite the intensity of the fire, only minor structural harm was imparted on some trailers, and most significantly, not a single individual reported injuries.

Meanwhile, a sensation of disbelief lingered, with one observer recounting the startling rapidity of the fire's escalation to Fox 32, "and there was a big boom, and I thought something exploded. All of the sudden, I just looked out and the whole place in back was engulfed in flames in the blink of an eye. It was incredible. I'd never saw anything like it before in my life."
