Athens-Clarke County Leisure Services Department has rolled out its pool season lineup. All five public pools are set to open, ensuring that families and swimmers of every age can find their slice of cool in the city.
Starting this summer, residents can take a dip at locations sprawled across town, including the perennial favorites: Bishop Park at 750 Sunset Drive, Heard Park at 400 McKinley Drive, Lay Park at 297 Hoyt Street, Memorial Park at 293 Gran Ellen Drive, and Howard Park at 291 Henderson Extension. The pools, alongside the Howard Park Splash Pad, will welcome visitors from Tuesday to Friday and Sundays between 1:00 – 5:30 p.m. and display a splash of inclusivity by extending hours on Saturdays to a noon – 5:30 p.m. schedule, as detailed by the Athens-Clarke County website.
Meanwhile, the Walker Park Splash Pad at 200 Trail Creek St will open from May 24 to July 27, with weekend hours from August 4 to September 1, according to the county's announcement. The splash pad will operate Tuesday through Sunday, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., offering an easy and affordable way to cool off this summer.
Be sure to note that all pools and the splash pad will be closed on Mondays for maintenance, ensuring safe and clean water throughout the week. As for pricing, the department has made it easy on the wallet: entry is just $1 per person (cash only). For regular visitors, individual pool passes are available for $20, while a Family of Four pass costs $40. These passes provide access to all public pools and splash pads. Payment options include cash, and pool passes can also be purchased with a check.
