Athens-Clarke County is seeking input from residents on the future of housing and community development in the region. A five-year consolidated plan, covering fiscal years 2026 through 2030, is being developed by the Athens-Clarke County Unified Government Housing and Community Development Department. The plan will outline objectives and strategies for using funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Entitlement Grants.
From Thursday through June 8, the department is accepting written public comments on the consolidated plan and the activities funded by the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and HOME Programs for the 2025-2026 Annual Action Plan. Comments can be submitted via email to [email protected] or by phone at 706-613-3155 to the Housing and Community Development Office, according to an announcement by Athens-Clarke County.
Detailed information concerning the plan can be found on the Housing and Community Development Public Input Opportunities Page. The website provides access to a comprehensive listing of all FY26 CDBG and HOME awards, in addition to a Draft Copy of the ACC HCD Consolidated Plan for FY26-30.
Physical copies of the documents are available for review at several locations, including the Housing and Community Development Department at 375 Satula Avenue and the East Athens Development Corporation at 410 McKinley Drive. All locations are accessible to individuals with disabilities. Athens-Clarke County residents may review the plans and contact the Housing and Community Development staff at 706-613-3155 for assistance or additional information. The deadline for written submissions is June 8.
