According to a statement obtained by FOX 5 Atlanta, the girl's aunt, Erica Melson, shared a harrowing account of the moments leading up to the catastrophe, "They told me they kind of heard some thundering and lightning, and then once the thunder hit, then the tree just kind of fell, and then they ran in the room, and my mom couldn't move, and then they couldn't find A'erica. So, underneath the tree is where she was."
