Atlanta Police have made a significant step forward in a homicide case that occurred earlier this month. According to a press release by the Atlanta Police Department, an arrest has been made concerning the fatal shooting on Forsyth Street SW on May 17. The suspect in custody is Melvin Marshall, with charges including Murder, Aggravated Assault, and firearms-related offenses.
The incident, which claimed the life of a male victim found with a gunshot wound to the chest, was first responded to by officers at around 6:14 a.m. Police actions led to securing warrants for Marshall's arrest following their investigation. The convergence of events, led to Marshall being apprehended in Dekalb County on an unrelated matter, but he has since been booked at Fulton County Jail.
The press release explicitly states, "An arrest does not mean that the individual has been or will be convicted of the crime. Individuals on this press release/post/video are presumed innocent until proven guilty by a court of law." The investigation into the Forsyth Street SW shooting is ongoing, and authorities are likely to provide updates as new information becomes available.
