The Austin Police Department (APD) is on the hunt for two men following a shooting incident that occurred last month on South Interstate Highway 35. According to a report received from the APD, the shooting took place at approximately 4:45 p.m. on April 29, resulting in a victim being injured from gunfire. The confrontation involved a shooting from a large, dark-colored pickup truck at a blue Nissan sedan on the 6000 block of South IH-35 northbound.
Investigators describe both suspects, traveling in the truck towing a trailer containing landscaping equipment, as white males with shaggy medium-length hair. A black utility trailer with mesh sides, around four feet high, was hitched to what appeared to be a Ford F-250-like pickup. Towing a trailer, the shots rang out from the left lane of the highway to unsuspecting travelers nearby. The victim survived the attack but suffered injuries deemed non-life-threatening.
The APD is actively seeking information from the public that might lead to the apprehension of the individuals responsible for this crime. As mentioned in their official release, APD encourages anyone who may have witnessed the event or has any footage, images, or details about the suspects or their vehicle to come forward and provide what they have.
Contributions to the investigation can be made by contacting the APD's Aggravated Assault unit directly or by submitting an anonymous tip through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program. The program, aiming to aid in the arrest, may offer a reward of up to $1,000 for information that tips the scale of justice in this aggravated assault case. Desperate for leads, the APD is asking for the community's assistance to solve this case and to submit any relevant information they might hold.
