Attention Bay Area commuters, brace yourselves for a weekend of delays as bridge deck repairs necessitate lane closures on eastbound Interstate 70, stretching from Brooklyn Ave to 18th St. According to the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT), the maintenance work is set to commence on Friday, May 16 at 10 p.m. and will carry on through the early hours of Monday, wrapping up around 6 a.m.
During this period, two left lanes on EB I-70 in the affected stretch will be off-limits to traffic. The work is part of a broader initiative aimed at addressing the wear and tear on bridge decks across Cass, Jackson, and Platte Counties. Worse yet, there's an additional lane closure at 18th St., linked to the Improve I-70 KC project, compounding the potential for traffic snarls.
Traffic flow will inevitably suffer as a result, and MoDOT is urging motorists to exercise caution and patience while navigating these temporary restrictions. For the most current information regarding the lane closures and to plan your travel accordingly, visit MoDOT's official website.
