In a vibrant call to unity and celebration, Bellevue is set to host Pride on the Plaza on June 4, marking an annual tribute to the LGBTQIA+ community. The event at City Hall Plaza, running from noon to 2 p.m., promises an array of attractions, including music, food, and performances by local queer artists, as reported by the City of Bellevue.
The proceedings will kick off with a pride flag-raising ceremony and words from city leaders, who will highlight Bellevue's commitment to diversity and inclusivity. Edgar Longoria, the esteemed head of Entre Hermanos, is scheduled to deliver a keynote address, ensuring to significantly add to the event's communal spirit.
"Pride Across the Bridge is proud to work alongside our partner, the City of Bellevue, and its incredible teams to build diverse, connective spaces," Axton Burton, the executive director of Pride Across the Bridge, said in a statement obtained by the City of Bellevue. He continued, emphasizing the importance of visibility and belonging for the LGBTQIA+ community in Bellevue.
Mayor Lynne Robinson also voiced her support, reiterating the city's stance as a welcoming community for all. "Our community events provide an opportunity to bring all people together to connect, learn from each other and celebrate our rich diversity," she told in the City of Bellevue's published announcement.
In addition to the day's festivities, Bellevue Downtown Association and the city collaborate to showcase Pride banners downtown throughout June. Furthermore, a unique Paws and Pride Dog Walk is scheduled for May 31 at Downtown Park, beckoning pet lovers to strut their support in tandem with their four-legged friends.
