
On April 19, a fatal accident claimed the life of a 33-year-old bicyclist in Antioch. According to the Antioch Police Department, the collision occurred at the intersection of Lone Tree Way and James Donlon Boulevard. The APD received a call at approximately 8:10 AM reporting a man down on the roadway, which led to the tragic discovery that the bicyclist had stepped off his bike and fallen into the path of an oncoming vehicle.
The driver involved in the incident remained at the scene and fully cooperated with the authorities. The APD's Traffic Unit is now leading the investigation into this incident. Preliminary findings have indicated that neither drugs nor alcohol were contributing factors in the accident. The bicyclist, whose identity has not yet been released pending family notification, was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
