In an effort to boost child passenger safety, the Blount County Sheriff's Office (BCSO) is rolling out a Child Safety Seat Clinic this upcoming Saturday. According to a recent social media post from the BCSO, certified technicians will be on hand at Walland Elementary School to help ensure that child safety seats are properly installed in attendees' vehicles. The event aims to make sure seats fit both vehicle and child, and are securely anchored, a critical measure in safeguarding young passengers.
The free clinic, scheduled for May 24 from 9 am to 12 pm, is part of a series hosted by the Sheriff's office throughout the year. "Trained and certified child passenger safety seat technicians from the Blount County Sheriff’s Office will be on hand to provide child car seat installation," the BCSO declared. The initiative is set to both educate and assist parents and guardians in the proper installation of child restraints, an often-overlooked but vitally important aspect of vehicle safety.
BCSO's community-focused efforts extend from February through November, with clinics popping up at various locations across Blount County. The Sheriff’s Office, under the leadership of Sheriff James Lee Berrong, is committed to reducing the number of child injuries in vehicular accidents which statistically can be mitigated by the correct use of car safety seats.
The office encourages those interested to keep up with future events and announcements via the Sheriff's Office Facebook page and website. For many parents, the opportunity to have a professional technician verify their child's safety seat is not one easily passed up. "This clinic is an opportunity to ensure the child’s safety seat fits your vehicle, your child, and ensure it is safely and securely anchored in the vehicle," the Sheriff’s Office emphasized.
