An 18-year-old Boca Raton High School graduate, Hendry Aceituno Gudiño, was tragically killed in a car crash, just hours after receiving his diploma. CBS12 reported that Gudiño was returning home from a celebratory dinner with his girlfriend and her dad when the vehicle, driven by the 52-year-old father, veered off the road near the Martin Highway exit on I-95 and collided with a guardrail. Both Gudiño and the driver were pronounced dead at the scene, while the 16-year-old girlfriend survived the crash.

The loss of Aceituno has left the community and his family in deep mourning. Anielka Gudiño, the victim's mother, related to WFLX the depth of her sorrow, "It’s a tragic death and I think nobody deserves to die like that. Very painful. Everything is painful. A teen full of life, 18 years old. He had a whole life ahead of him." Gudiño, alongside her son, had immigrated to the United States from Venezuela in 2023, hopeful for a new beginning, making this tragedy all the more poignant for the single mother.

In response to the fatal incident, a GoFundMe campaign has been initiated to support the Gudiño family with funeral expenses. Friends and members of the community described Hendry as a kind and hardworking individual, full of love. Angel Espulge, a friend of Aceituno, told WFLX, "He left this world, sadly. But we thank God that we were able to know him."

Boca Raton Community High School is extending support to students and staff by offering counseling services. School principal, Dr. Suzanne King, addressed the devastating news in a sensitive email to parents. "It is with deep sadness that I share the news that one of our students has passed away unexpectedly over the weekend. Out of respect for the family’s privacy and for confidentiality reasons, we are not publishing the student’s name at this time," Dr. King expressed, as noted by CBS12.

Acknowledging the challenge of grief for young individuals encountering such loss for the first time, she encouraged conversations to be approached with "care, compassion, and respect." For immediate emotional support, staff and students were also encouraged to use the 2-1-1 crisis helpline. Amidst the tragedy, Anielka Gudiño's message remains one of caution, urging others to "Be cautious. Drive responsibly. Be careful. It’s not only your life, but it’s also the people with you," she imparted in a statement obtained by WPTV.
