The search for a missing 73-year-old man came to a tragic conclusion at Arcadia Lake with the recovery of a body by local crews yesterday evening. According to KFOR, the Edmond Police Department confirmed that the deceased individual was Earl Sykes from Logan County, who was the subject of a recent Silver Alert. Officials were alerted to the situation after a call came in about a body seen floating on the water's surface.
Further details provided by KOCO indicate that the Edmond police and fire departments responded to the Spring Creek campsites, perched on the north side of the lake, to facilitate the recovery. The presence of Sykes’ car in close proximity to the scene added to the urgency of the incident.
The identification process, as is protocol, awaited the conclusive expertise of the Medical Examiner. However, the identification of the body as belonging to Sykes was preliminarily established by the authorities. News9 reported that the Edmond Police have expressed their belief it's Earl Sykes, based on information available prior to the Medical Examiner's confirmation.
