The Boston City Council has unanimously supported Bill SD.2808, titled An Act Strengthening Health Care Protections. The resolution, introduced by Councilor Julia Mejia, backs efforts to protect access to reproductive and gender-affirming care in Massachusetts.
According to the City of Boston release, the bill aims to enhance privacy for patients by restricting public access to personal information such as names, addresses, and contact details. It also seeks to limit prescription tracking and reduce the involvement of local entities in out-of-state investigations or legal actions that conflict with Massachusetts law.
Councilor Mejia stated that the measure is intended to help maintain access to care in Massachusetts, particularly as laws in other states become more restrictive.
