Early yesterday morning, tensions escalated on Cambridge Street, where Boston Police have reported arresting Elvis Haughton, a 46-year-old Boston local, following an incident involving discharged firearms and a physical confrontation between the suspect and law enforcement officers. According to official documentation from the Boston Police Department, the scene unfolded at around 8:43 a.m. when officers working on a nearby construction detail encountered Haughton who then allegedly assaulted one of the officers.
This confrontation reportedly led to a violent altercation during which an officer’s weapon was fired, striking Haughton, though it was detailed that no life-threatening injuries were sustained by the suspect, and the aid of several bystanders was crucial in subduing and detaining Haughton until he was transported to a local hospital for the treatment of his injuries.
As a consequence of this event, Haughton is poised to face multiple charges including Assault and Battery on a Police Officer, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Possession of a Class C Substance, and Resisting Arrest, and he is expected to be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court on these charges.
