Boulder Police have once again apprehended 52-year-old Alyiah Faith Vega on a slew of charges stemming from an incident earlier this week involving the menacing of schoolchildren and teachers. Vega, who has a history of using various aliases, was initially taken into custody under a different name provided to the officers, creating an initial misidentification compounded by her historical penchant for pseudonyms.

According to the Boulder Police Department, Vega was re-arrested late last night on 35 new charges. She also had active warrants from multiple jurisdictions, including Boulder County, Lakewood, and Edgewater, for offenses ranging from dangerous drugs and criminal impersonation to DUI charges. The altercation that brought Vega into the spotlight occurred on the 1700 block of Broadway around 11 a.m. on Monday, when she reportedly followed two teachers and their students with a knife and made death threats against them.

While no physical injuries were reported as the group was able to distance themselves from danger, the emotional toll of such an encounter, especially on young minds, can be significant. Following the altercation and Vega's initial arrest, she was placed in Boulder County jail on one count of felony menacing. However, despite the District Attorney's Office advocating for a secured bond, Vega was released after appearing before a judge on a personal recognizance bond on Tuesday.

The situation evolved on Thursday when Vega failed to appear in court as scheduled. Subsequently, the District Attorney's Office filed 18 counts of felony menacing and 17 counts of misdemeanor child abuse against her. As a result of her absence, the presiding judge revoked Vega's bond and issued a new warrant for her arrest based on her failure to appear.
