A Brockton man has been arrested and stands accused of attempted murder, following a violent altercation in a West Bridgewater residence. In an account confirmed by the local police department, 38-year-old Mario Raul Babbs faces charges including assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, in addition to attempted murder.

The incident occurred yesterday night when police were summoned to a Spring Street home after reports surfaced of a man bleeding profusely from the neck. Responding officers encountered the victim, a 36-year-old East Bridgewater man applying pressure to his wound. After initial treatment by the West Bridgewater Fire Department, the victim was transported to Boston Medical Center - South, though his current condition remains undisclosed.

An investigation by the West Bridgewater Police determined that the confrontation occurred inside the residence during a gathering of acquaintances. According to an official statement on Facebook, Babbs allegedly forced entry into a bedroom and proceeded to stab the victim multiple times in the head and neck with a weapon.

Following the assault, Babbs reportedly fled the scene but, was quickly tracked down by Officer Richard Flaherty and K-9 Fedor, hiding in a nearby wooded area. The suspect was apprehended and, without further incident, brought in for medical evaluation before being booked by the West Bridgewater Police Department. Babbs is slated for arraignment at Brockton District Court today.
