
Michael Rutledge has been convicted on all charges related to an armed robbery at a Clinton Hill convenience store in Brooklyn. A federal jury found him guilty of conspiracy to commit Hobbs Act robbery, Hobbs Act robbery, and discharging a firearm during a violent crime that occurred on February 10, 2023. The charges carry a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years, with the possibility of life in prison. The conviction was announced by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York, along with officials from the ATF and NYPD.
During the robbery, a customer was shot and a store clerk was threatened with a knife. Authorities determined Rutledge drove his co-conspirators, Angel Gomez and a third individual who remains at large, to and from the scene. Over $4,000 was stolen during the incident.
Rutledge was arrested on June 21, 2023, in the Bronx, where investigators recovered clothing linked to the robbery. His co-conspirator, Angel Gomez, pleaded guilty to related chargesearlier this year, and is awaiting sentencing.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys James R. Simmons and Vincent M. Chiappini, with support from Paralegal Matias Burdman and Intelligence Research Specialist Ashley Hinkson.
