A Brooklyn teenager has been arrested after a series of threats towards schools in Parkland, Coral Springs, and Uvalde, Texas, which included both fake active shooter threats and swatting calls. The comprehensive investigation, requiring the coordination of over a dozen law enforcement agencies, has culminated in the arrest of this individual for terroristic threats and false emergency reports.

The investigation, which started in January, was prompted by a sequence of disturbing threats on social media platforms such as Instagram and TikTok, and swatting calls targeted at school districts. According to NBC Miami, the threats could be traced back to an area in New York, leading to the arrest of the teen at his Brooklyn residence. The same suspect was also linked to swatting incidents that targeted campuses in San Antonio, Coral Springs Police Chief Brad Mock confirmed in a statement to NBC Miami.

Upon the arrest, the teen confessed to making multiple swatting calls and admitted to sending out a variety of threats via social media, including targeting a family member of a Robb Elementary School shooting victim in Uvalde. Officers executed a search at the suspect's home, where they confirmed the individual did not have access to any weapons and had no direct links to the cities he made threats against.

Both Parkland and Uvalde have been previous scenes of tragic mass shootings, with Parkland's Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School witnessing 17 deaths in 2018, and Uvalde's Robb Elementary School suffering 21 deaths in a 2022 shooting. "How fast they came together to actually identify a suspect through a computer is unbelievable, and it’s a reminder that you cannot hide. We will find you," Chief Mock told Coral Springs Talk

Additionally, the investigation highlighted a coordinated effort among law enforcement agencies from multiple jurisdictions, with officers from Uvalde even traveling to Brooklyn to provide support. The teen's name, however, has not been made public.
