Police arrested 26-year-old Michael Armijo on charges related to sexual misconduct involving minors. The arrest followed a meticulous investigation sparked by a Buckeye Police School Resource Officer (SRO) at Canyon View High School, according to details released by the Buckeye Police Department.
It all unraveled when two female students reported witnessing an individual engaging in lewd behavior in a campus parking lot on May 15; they saw a man masturbating in his car parked alongside theirs, their observant eyes provided a description of both man and vehicle which led the SRO to work in concert with the Special Victims Unit—an initiative that would root out a deeply troubling series of events. Police said they nabbed Armijo nearly a week later during a traffic stop near his home.
The decisive moment came when the SRO identified a vehicle akin to that described by the victims while it was leaving the high school’s parking lot on May 21. The officer's intervention yielded more than just traffic citations. Armijo, feigning innocence, claimed he was there to drop off a student, despite his flagrant disregard for the law, having been caught driving on a suspended license, for which he was cited and subsequently barred from school grounds.
The investigation deepened as police pieced together Armijo's unauthorised interactions with the school community. On May 9, he duplicitously offered a 15-year-old a ride and took advantage of the situation to assault her—a revelation that surfaced through diligent police work. Further investigation linked the man to another indecent exposure incident outside a local Fry’s on April 30, again highlighting a pattern of brazen, predatory behavior that had no place anywhere near school grounds or in the community, with the suspect having no legitimate affiliations with the school.
Following the arrest on the morning of May 22, Armijo now faces severe legal penalties for his actions, including charges for child sex trafficking, luring a minor, and sexual conduct with a minor. The case, which started from a seemingly isolated incident, has unveiled a more sinister web as police continue to investigate the breadth of Armijo's illicit activities in the area.
