Drivers in Calcasieu Parish should brace for delays as the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has announced lane closures on Interstate 10 Eastbound. According to a notice published by DOTD, the right lane on the Calcasieu River Bridge will be closed from 8 a.m. today for bridge maintenance.
The exact duration of the lane closure is currently unknown as DOTD stated the lane will remain closed "until further notice," advising the public that an update will be issued once the restrictions are lifted, and while the inconvenience might seem troublesome the safety will be prioritized the wait is expected to ensure a more secure travel in the future. DOTD urges drivers to be vigilant while passing through the construction zone and to watch out for crew members and their equipment.
In their message to the community, DOTD emphasized the importance of patience and safety. Local residents are advised to act carefully not only when driving but also when walking or biking in proximity to the active site.
