City of Chandler reports that a ribbon cutting ceremony will kick things off at 9 a.m., with attendees getting the chance to enjoy fitness demos, vendor visits, hands-on activities, and raffle entries until noon.

This latest endeavor, which introduces a fitness room, craft studio, classroom, events hall, and game area, is set to elevate the TRC's role as a hub for Chandler's active adult community, where they can gather, learn, and pursue wellness – Mayor Kevin Hartke pointed to the new space as a "dedicated space for building connections, especially among our active adult residents," noting the growth in demand for such services the fitness room is not only for working out it also serves as a venue for educational fitness workshops, and the craft studio isn't just a place to create but a space to foster new friendships. Residents are invited to experience the expanded facilities and to mingle during the open house, as per the City of Chandler.

Not only does the extension offer additional facilities, it is also introducing the Saguaro Social Club, an exclusive part of the TRC where those aged 55 and above can revel in special access and programs from Monday to Friday during 8 a.m. to 5 p.m, the new addition will also be open for registered programming beyond these hours, catering to a wider audience and inviting a diverse range of participants to engage with the center. Community Services Director John Sefton emphasized the importance of responsiveness to community desires in a statement obtained by City of Chandler, "While this new space is especially important for our active adult population, it’s also designed to serve and engage residents of all ages."

Since its inception in 2008, TRC has stood as a 62,000-square-foot recreation facility at 745 E. Germann Road, offering a wide range of activities and classes for various age groups, the new expansion was designed by Barker Rinker Seacat Architecture and constructed by Chasse Building Team starting in January 2024. Born out of a recognized need for facilities that would cater particularly to adults, the completed project aligns with assessments previously conducted on the community's recreational needs.
