In a solemn display of communal grief, a vigil is set to honor the short life of two-month-old Kayson A. Flowers, whose tragic death has been etched into the heart of Chicago’s South Side. As reported by ABC7 Chicago, the infant was discovered unresponsive in a home on the 200-block of W. 106th Street last month and later pronounced dead at Roseland Hospital on April 26.

The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office, upon examining Kayson, found multiple injuries consistent with child abuse and ultimately ruled his death a homicide, as detailed by ABC7 Chicago. Kayson’s family, in partnership with Roseland Christian Ministries, is offering a $5,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest and conviction in this devastating case.

To this effect, Roseland Christian Ministries is slated to host the vigil for the beloved baby boy at 5 p.m. Emotions are raw among Kayson's relatives, especially his mother, who, according to a CBS News Chicago interview, stated Kayson was her "first and only child." Reflecting the anguish of those left to contend with such a loss, Pastor Joe Huizenga was quoted as saying, “The family is holding strong, they have a tight family, a good family," and emphasized the heinous nature of the crime.
