A little after 3 a.m., surveillance footage recorded a suspect taking patio furniture from the porch of a residence located at 5956 Belmont Avenue. The suspect arrived and left the scene in a white SUV, which was also caught on camera.

In line with the approach often taken by authorities, the police are leaning heavily on community collaboration. The benefits of such shared vigilance are clear—residents can play an active part in ensuring their neighborhoods remain safe and that those who seek to disrupt that safety are held accountable. "The pictured suspect took furniture from the porch of 5956 Belmont Ave. The suspect arrived in a white SUV," the Cincinnati Police Department's statement read. It has not been disclosed yet whether the theft is an isolated incident or part of a larger pattern in the area.
Furniture theft, particularly from unsecured outdoor areas, has been a concern for many residents seeking to enjoy their homes' exteriors without fear of loss. While sometimes perceived as minor, such acts of theft can significantly disturb residents' sense of security, particularly when it involves a space as intimate as one's porch. The Cincinnati Police have asked anyone identifying the suspect to contact Det. Urgently. Cortez at 513-352-6401. This request seems straightforward, and I am hoping to ensure that those with information feel compelled to step forward.
