The Coconino County Attorney's Office has officially launched a rebrand with a fresh logo and seal. This upgrade was made possible through a collaboration with Northern Arizona University's VisualDESIGNLab, which is known for giving students a taste of real-world graphic design projects. Aiming to encapsulate the County Attorney’s mission, the new imagery stands to advocate for justice and empower the community.
Injecting local significance into the visual identity, the design features three core elements: the Historic Courthouse representing the judiciary's anchorage, the recognizable landscape stretching from the San Francisco Peaks to the Navajo Nation, and the sun's rays casting the promise of hope and renewal. Describing the collective elements of the design, County Attorney Ammon Barker said, "Our new logo and seal tell that story. They reflect our landscape, our history, and our shared commitment to justice and service," in an announcement.
In ushering in a modern visual era, the office discards its outdated emblem for one that respects the professional demeanor expected of a legal institution while embracing a contemporary appearance. The design process was comprehensive, involving feedback from office staff and NAU's design specialists over several months. This pushed for a creation that resonates with both the employees of the County Attorney's Office and the wider Coconino County populace. Barker emphasized the importance of representation in the design, stating, "We wanted something that truly represented who we are as an office, and a community."
The transition to the new design will be gradual, with Coconino County's legal materials, public communications, and business paraphernalia progressively rolling out the new visuals.
