The Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office (OPSO) hosted a visit at the Orleans Justice Center as part of the State of the People Power Tour. The event featured several community leaders and activists and aimed to highlight initiatives under Sheriff Susan Hutson’s administration.
According to the Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office's Facebook post, the sheriff emphasized priorities including humanity, community leadership, family reunification, and innovation. Attendees included Joy-Ann Reid, DEE-1, B. Simone, Dr. Wes Bellamy, and Syrita Steib.
Guests toured the women’s, juvenile, and model pods and spoke directly with individuals in custody, who shared their experiences and perspectives. Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office stated that the visit was focused on listening and learning about the needs and challenges of those incarcerated.
