Cryin’ Coyote Barbeque, situated at the crossroads of Cave Creek Road and Basin Road, has been dishing out smoked meats and homemade sides with a personal touch since opening on July 4, 2023.

The Edgin family, with Cody and Beth at the helm, introduced Cryin’ Coyote to the community, infusing the menu with their own creations along with heirloom recipes handed down through generations. "We make all of our sauces in house, all of our sides, all of our BBQ rubs, all of our meat is all smoked in house as well too. So everything comes from us, from our recipes,” Cody told AZ Family. Beth chimed in, sharing her satisfaction with their offerings, "It’s delicious. It’s the best."

In the tradition of great barbeque joints, the menu boasts a variety of meats such as brisket, pulled pork, and jalapeño cheddar sausage, all smoked over Arizona pecan wood for a distinctive flavor profile. Cryin’ Coyote goes the extra mile with sides that pay homage to family heritage, including Cody’s great-great-grandmother’s chile relleno rice esquites street corn. They also offer a loaded baked potato that’s a meal in itself, featuring the diner's choice of BBQ'd meat and topped with a rich array of classic fixings.

The Edgins are proud to offer a menu that caters to dietary needs, noting that 90% of their offerings are gluten-free. This approach extends not only to the smoked meats but also to the unique selection of house-made BBQ sauces that guests can drizzle over their plates. The sauces, ranging from the Arizona Sweet Heat to a zesty Texas Red, are a labor of love, each made in-house with an attention to detail.

More than just a place to eat, Cryin’ Coyote represents a family's dream to create a space where customers feel like part of the clan. "I understand now having our own family-owned business because we get to spend quality time together. We get a sense of fulfillment doing it together,” Cody stated in an interview with AZ Family. According to their website, the team at Cryin’ Coyote is inviting everyone to join in their second-anniversary celebration on the Fourth of July, promising specials, live music, and a festive atmosphere.
