
In honor of World Oceans Day, the Deering Estate is hosting a special screening of the documentary "Noah’s Ark A Coral Rescue First" on June 8. According to a recent announcement by Miami-Dade County, the event is set to take place at 4 p.m. in the Visitor Center theater of the estate. The film, directed by Michael Zimmer, chronicles the daring efforts of scientists to save endangered coral species in Dry Tortugas National Park during a 2019 mission.
Post-screening, attendees are invited to participate in a panel discussion featuring coral experts Ms. Dr. Katey Lesneski, Ken Nedimyer, and Kylie Smith, who will endeavor to fully answer queries regarding the future state of coral reefs. As reported by Miami-Dade County, the documentary sheds light on the nuanced blend of urgency, science, and collaborative spirit fueling the first-of-its-kind coral rescue.
