The Denver Police Department has yet again clamped down on what has become a recurring issue within city limits: rogue riders treating streets as their playground. According to the Denver Police Department, an incident on May 2 was detailed where officers from District 6, while patrolling the Speer Blvd corridor, spotted a band of motorists on dirt bikes and all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) running amok. The group was reported to be blocking traffic, running stops, and posing a risk to the surrounding community with their hazardous maneuvering at Speer Boulevard and Wewatta Street.

According to reports, the police kept a watchful eye on the group until a stop at a gas station near Speer Boulevard and N Zuni Street presented an opportunity for law enforcement to make contact. Trying to flee, the riders were eventually apprehended after officers tackled two of them following a brief foot chase. The culprits faced citations for reckless driving, exhibition of speed, and several other traffic infractions.

Notably, one of the suspects in custody found their troubles compounded, with this latest transgression following a prior arrest for similar antics back in April. The Denver Police Department's commitment to maintaining the safety of its streets has been clear in their follow-through, seizing the ATVs, along with a dirt bike left behind by a fleeing rider. The repeat offender had been caught, evidently undeterred by past run-ins with the law, taking to the city streets on a different ATV.
