DeSoto County officials report a recent incident involving the re-arrest of two individuals, Chad Johnson and Justin Alexander, shortly after their release from custody. According to Action News 5, both men were discharged by court order due to contempt of court charges however it was later unveiled they were subject to open indictments relating to non-violent drug offenses.
Following the court-ordered release, the DeSoto County Sheriff's Office acted promptly to re-arrest the two individuals. Of the two, "Johnson was re-arrested without incident in DeSoto County, and Alexander was re-arrested without incident in Memphis," as conveyed by Action News 5. Johnson and Alexander's arrests were for indightments that had remained open despite their earlier release on separate legal grounds.
Johnson, who is 53 and hails from Hernando, faces charges related to the possession of a controlled substance as a habitual offender in addition to the contempt of court charges. This information comes from DeSoto County News, who also reports that the charges against Johnson date back to early April.
Meanwhile, Alexander, a 38-year-old from Memphis, has previous charges that include habitual possession of a weapon by a felon, and not surprisingly, drug-related offenses.
