Andre Stephon-Curtis Broadenax, 29, of Detroit, has been charged with crimes including first-degree home invasion and car theft. According to the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office, Broadenax allegedly involved his 11-year-old daughter in a home invasion last Tuesday, as reported by CBS News Detroit. Authorities also said the vehicle he used had been stolen from a man in Dearborn Heights.
Neighbors in the Detroit community reacted after Broadenax was accused of involving his child in the incident. David Bridges, a local resident, told FOX 2 Detroit, "This is my neighborhood. I love this neighborhood actually," noting, "I have seen a lot of stuff up and down this block but."
Broadenax was arrested and initially given a $75,000 bond with house arrest and a GPS tether. After a bond hearing, the bond was raised to $150,000. He is charged with multiple crimes, including two counts of home invasion, which could lead to up to 35 years in prison if convicted. Other charges include larceny in a building, receiving and concealing a stolen vehicle, and involving a minor in a felony. A probable cause hearing is scheduled for May 14, followed by a preliminary examination on May 21, as mentioned by The Detroit News.
