Memphis International Airport is set to launch a new nonstop Delta Air Lines service bound for John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City, offering a direct line to The Big Apple come September 8, 2025. Delta announced yesterday that it is intensifying the connection between Memphis travelers and one of its largest markets, as reported by Action News 5. A 76-seat Embraer 175 aircraft will service the route daily, affirming the airport's commitment to facilitating travel between the two metropolitan hubs.

With approximately 352 passengers flying each way between Memphis and New York City daily, this venture promises to fulfill the existing high demand significantly. "We are excited to see Delta’s continued expansion at MEM," Michael Keeney, Chairman of the Board of Commissioners for Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority, said in a statement from FOX13 Memphis. Keeney emphasized that the new route not only offers another option to New York City but also boosts connectivity to Europe and other international destinations.

The addition strengthens Delta's presence in Memphis, taking the airline's destination offerings out of MEM to nine. The locations include Atlanta, Austin, Boston, Detroit, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, New York via LaGuardia Airport, and Salt Lake City. The Memphis to Austin service is also slated to commence on Wednesday, just a few months before the JFK route's initiation.

Flight schedules, set to fit conveniently into passengers' itineraries, see the Memphis to JFK leg departing at 4:35 p.m. CST and arriving by 8:15 PM EST. Inversely, the flight from JFK to Memphis will take off at 2 p.m. EST and is expected to touch down at 3:55 PM CST. "The addition of JFK service provides our passengers with another option to the New York City area and expands connectivity to Europe and other international destinations,” Keeney reiterated in a statement reported by the Commercial Appeal. Passengers looking to secure their seats on these flights can now purchase tickets online.
