
Shoppers at a Newton County Walmart experienced heightened tensions yesterday morning when a dispute between two men nearly turned violent. According to the Newton County Sheriff's Office, deputies were dispatched to the store on Salem Road in Covington around 8:50 a.m. after receiving reports of an "isolated altercation." A statement obtained by FOX 5 indicated that during the argument, one of the men involved proceeded to quickly pull out a firearm. Fortunately, the gun was not fired, and no injuries have been reported.
Following the confrontation, both individuals decided to leave the premises before authorities arrived. Details surrounding the cause of the fight or whether the men knew each other have not been disclosed by investigators. The Newton County Sheriff’s Office, actively looking into the incident, has yet to identify the men involved. In a report by WSBTV, officials emphasized that no one was hurt in the event.
