Early morning drug raids, conducted by the Drug Control Units of Boston's District C-6 and A-7, led to the arrest of 19-year-old Dorchester resident Ayman Mohamed on various firearm and drug trafficking charges. In the operation, officers zeroed in on a residence at 108 North Point Drive in Dorchester just as the city was waking up to its daily hustle at about 7:00 a.m., yesterday, April 30.
Diligent investigation and the execution of search warrants culminated in a significant bust, resulting in the seizure of roughly eighty-nine grams of crack cocaine and seventeen grams of Fentanyl, not to mention a cache of $21,069 in cash according to a report from Boston Police Department. In an alarming addition to the drugs and money, a loaded Glock 23 equipped with one round in the chamber along with eighteen rounds in a high-capacity magazine was also discovered, further deepening the gravity of the situation at hand.
Mohamed faces multiple serious charges including unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of ammunition without an FID card, unlawful possession of a high-capacity feeding device, improper storage of a firearm, and trafficking of Class A and B substances. Authorities intend to bring these charges against Mohamed during his arraignment at the South Boston District Court. The Boston Police Department's swift action and successful operation lends a note of triumph, yet the discovery of such a young individual embroiled in severe criminal activity casts a stark light on the ongoing battle against drug-related crime in urban neighborhoods.
