The streets of Northwest and downtown DC will soon be awash with color and celebration for the 2025 WorldPride Parade and Block Party, set for the weekend of June 6-7. As with any large event, city-goers and residents can expect street closures and parking restrictions.

According to the Metropolitan Police Department's release, the WorldPride Parade will start on 15th Street from Rhode Island Avenue to U Street, NW, and will move through several major thoroughfares before disbanding on Constitution Avenue. Concurrently, the WorldPride Block Party will take place along a section of 17th Street. Motorists should plan alternative routes and expect delays in these areas. Emergency No Parking will be enforced on several streets starting from midnight. Friday, June 6, and streets will be closed to vehicle traffic at various times throughout the weekend.

For residents worried about access to their homes during the festivities, authorities have assured that access will be maintained. "Although vehicular traffic will not be able to cross 14th Street between U Street, NW and Independence Avenue, SW during the parade, residents will still be able to access their homes if they live east or west of 14th Street," states the official advisory. Officers will be available to assist residents in navigating the closures.

Businesses and visitors looking to reach the city center east of 14th Street, NW, will need to approach from the east due to intermittent closures. The areas impacted include City Center, Chinatown, and the Capital One Arena. Drivers are being directed to use alternative routes, such as U Street, NW, Massachusetts Avenue NW, and the 3rd Street Tunnel, to circumvent the festivities. The detailed list of parking restrictions and street closures provides a roadmap for what to expect as the celebrations unfold.

The complete list of parking restrictions and street closures can be found on the official MPDC website.
