A serious crash on the exit ramp from Route 3 Northbound to Scenic Highway in Bourne led to major road closures after a vehicle went through a guardrail and caught fire.

According to Boston 25 News, the Bourne Police Department reported that the car was coming off the Sagamore Bridge when it crashed through the guardrail, crossed the road, and stopped near the edge before catching fire.

CapeCod.com stated that a bystander and Environmental Police were able to pull the driver from the vehicle before it was fully engulfed in flames.

The Bourne Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire. Due to weather conditions, a planned MedFlight transport was canceled, and the driver was taken by ambulance to an off-Cape trauma center. The Massachusetts State Police, along with Bourne Police, are investigating the crash. The exit ramp and nearby roads were closed, with no confirmed time for reopening.
