Early this morning, two adults found themselves without a home after a fire broke out in their Port St. Lucie residence. According to a CBS12 report, the fire began around 4:10 a.m. with the St. Lucie County Fire District quickly responding to the scene at a home on NW Selvitz Road. The Fire District stated that they were able to bring the fire under control within about 16 minutes of their arrival.
The incident was contained largely to the garage area, allowing firefighters to prevent the blaze from spreading to surrounding parts of the home and possibly to neighboring properties. Images provided by the Fire District showed the garage emitting heavy smoke, and subsequent photos revealed the extensive damage to belongings inside. According to the same report by CBS12, despite the swift action to control and contain the fire, it still displaced two adults.
The official Facebook page of the St. Lucie County Fire District corroborated the early morning calamity, confirming that several fire units were dispatched to the 700 block of NW Selvitz Road. In a Facebook post, they detailed that the fire was contained to the garage and reiterated that there were no injuries.
While the immediate danger was averted, the cause of the fire is still being investigated. The Fire District has not yet released details on the possible origin or circumstances that could have to quickly trigger such an event.
