Mosquito Road will be closed for bridge replacement work from 0.6 miles north to 0.8 miles south of the Mosquito Road Bridge starting May 27 until August 3. The closure is planned to coincide with the local school's summer break to minimize impact on daily commutes, as reported by the El Dorado County.
The road will be closed for drainage improvements and concrete work. A detour is in place via Rock Creek Road, which may cause delays. Road maintenance, including pothole repairs, will continue throughout the summer, with a focus on emergency access and shift changes. The bridge will remain closed during crane maintenance until the County DOT Bridge Crew confirms it is safe. Construction will pause if an evacuation is necessary, according to the El Dorado County.
Traffic control measures will be in place on Mosquito Road between Union Ridge Road and Rock Creek Road, including flaggers, construction signs, and piloted semi-truck loads. Delays of 5 to 10 minutes are expected, but some delays may last up to 20 minutes due to slow-moving equipment or wide loads. Access to the Quintette Fire Station may also be affected.
