Residents of El Paso are gearing up for a string of hot and sunny days ahead, according to the latest update from the National Weather Service. With today's forecast promising a high near a sweltering 102 degrees, locals should prepare to seek shade and stay hydrated, especially during the peak afternoon hours when a light wind shift from west southwest is expected to offer little relief, as detailed by the National Weather Service.
This evening, the weather is set to remain mostly clear with temperatures dropping to a more comfortable 68 degrees. As night beckons, the west wind at 5 to 9 mph will turn south, advising residents to perhaps keep their windows open to cool down. Into the weekend, the NWS predicts the heat to persist, with Friday’s thermometer climbing even higher to reach near 103 degrees. Those planning outdoor activities should adequately plan, possibly rescheduling strenuous activities to avoid the midday sun.
While the high temperatures dominate the headlines, it’s not all clear skies. The weekend outlook changes a bit with Saturday's forecast calling for mostly sunny conditions but with a high dipping slightly to near 94 degrees. Gusts may reach up to 21 mph, providing a bit of much-needed breeze. Then, as Sunday rolls in, the temperature is forecasted to slightly cool down to a high near 92 degrees with comparable wind conditions, according to the National Weather Service.
Looking ahead at the Memorial Day weekend, the weather seems to favor outdoor commemorations, showcasing sunny skies with a high near 90 degrees on Monday. However, as the week progresses, locals might want to keep an umbrella close by. The NWS has placed a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms for Tuesday, setting a similar trend for the following days. While the high temperatures are expected to consistently hover around the upper 80s, these chances of rain could provide a brief respite from the arid climate of El Paso.
