The local wing scene in El Paso has gained another player with the opening of the fifth The Shack Wings & Brews location in West El Paso. Behind this expanding empire are two alumni of America's High School, Adrian and Mike Soto, who paired their passions for wings and business acumen to bring about a small-scale flavor revolution. According to EPCC News, the opening of these establishments marks a triumph of hard work and savvy planning, supported by the El Paso Community College (EPCC) Small Business Development Center (SBDC).
Starting in Horizon City, word of their flavorful wings spread rapidly and necessitated expansion. The Soto brothers, advised by the EPCC SBDC, took their venture to a larger premise on McRae Boulevard. "Their dedication and commitment to invest in their business, along with their willingness to utilize the EPCC SBDC services are a true testament to small business success," EPCC SBDC Director Audrey Marrufo conveyed, as per EPCC News. The success of the McRae location spurred the opening of four more outlets, each graced with patios and live music, features that were immediately embraced by patrons.
The duo continued their meteoric rise with their third and fourth outlets popping up on Viscount Blvd and in Northeast El Paso, respectively. With each new opening, The Shack has proven that it knows what its customers want: a casual setting where the wing takes center stage. The SBDC at El Paso Community College, which is part of the Southwest Texas Border SBDC Network and funded in part through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Small Business Administration, has been an instrumental partner in this expansion.
