
The streets of El Paso witnessed another somber statistic as the city recorded its 24th traffic fatality this year. Last Tuesday, an incident that initially left a pedestrian hospitalized culminated in tragedy three days later. According to the El Paso Police Department, the collision occurred in the 9300 block of Stahala.
A GMC Sierra, said the determination of the authorities, was traveling west on Rutherford before it approached the intersection of Stahala, where the event unfolded. The vehicle had stopped at the intersection but proceeded to make a left turn, during which it hit the pedestrian who was using the crosswalk. After being transported to the hospital while fighting for their life, Clanan's identity was released following their unfortunate passing.
The Special Traffic Investigations unit, which took over the case to ascertain the details surrounding the event, is yet to release additional information regarding the circumstances or any potential charges that may be forthcoming. The loss, marked on May 23rd by the Medical Examiner's Office, deepens the community's concern over traffic safety and pedestrian welfare.
