The El Paso Police Department is set to mark a significant milestone with a day dedicated to community engagement and festive activities. The "152 In Blue" event, which is free and family-friendly, also serves as a commemoration of the department's 152 years of commitment to the El Paso community. According to the El Paso Police Department, the celebration is scheduled for Saturday, May 17, at the El Paso Police Academy located on Scenic Drive.
The history of the El Paso Police Department, which was established in May 1873, is rooted in public safety and community service. In honor of the years of dedication, the department will showcase its units and programs designed to protect and serve city residents. Festival-goers are expected to interact with officers, participate in safety activities, and check out live demonstrations from specialized teams such as SWAT and the Bomb Squad. "152 In Blue" will also entertain visitors with food trucks, live music from Officer Arturo Morales, and a variety of fitness activities to keep the spirit high throughout the day.
Planned event activities include a MixxedFit session led by Officer Sam Medina and demonstrations by specialized police units such as the K9 and COMSAR teams. To accommodate attendees, parking arrangements include limited spots along Scenic Drive with one-way traffic from East to West. Additional parking can be found at Police Headquarters on N. Raynor Street, where free shuttle transportation is provided to and from the academy for the duration of the event.
