Embarking on a cosmic quest, Bays Mountain Park is now home to an exciting new planetarium show titled "Beyond the Sun." This family-friendly animated adventure follows a young girl as she explores the universe to find exoplanets.

The 35-minute program will entertain audiences at the Planetarium Theater until August 31st. Showtimes are available Tuesday through Friday at 4 p.m., while weekend explorers can catch viewings on Saturdays and Sundays at 12 p.m. and 4 p.m. "Beyond the Sun is a wonderful, animated program for the whole family," said Planetarium Director Adam Thanz in a statement detailed by the City of Kingsport's official website. He added that the show is a "fun-filled adventure suitable for the whole family."

During the show, audiences will join the protagonist, Celeste, who embarks on an unexpected voyage as she learns about the existence and detection of exoplanets. Guided by Moon and his helpers, Celeste's nocturnal adventure reveals to her and the audience the variety of planets in our galaxy, including rogue planets, oceanic worlds, and super-Earths.

Complementing "Beyond the Sun" on the weekends, "Appalachian Skies" offers to transport visitors at 2 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays across the current evening sky. Utilizing the magic of the Zeiss optical star projector and enhanced by VELVET LED projectors, the show promises an immersive stargazing experience. According to the Bays Mountain website, the live nature of "Appalachian Skies" promises to provide each audience with a unique tour of the stars and planets, as the show adapts to the seasonal changes in the night sky.
