A shooting incident in Fall River has led to the arrest of 22-year-old Jesus Santana after he sought medical attention for non-life-threatening injuries. According to a recent social media post by the City of Fall River Police Department, the incident occurred near the 200 block of Orange Street on May 9th, and Santana was found in possession of a significant amount of suspected fentanyl and cash upon admittance to Charlton Memorial Hospital.
During their investigation, detectives uncovered that prior to the shooting, Santana was at a Pine Street residence. This turned out to not just be a consequential detail but was also a direct violation of an active abuse prevention order against Santana. Evidence, including the narcotics and money, was turned over by hospital staff to the authorities, who were quick to place charges upon Santana's release from medical care.
Santana is now facing charges for trafficking fentanyl—an amount totaling 10+ grams. Additionally, he has received charges for violating an abuse prevention order, with two counts against him. The Police Department's announcement highlighted that this investigation is ongoing and that further updates will be issued.
