A tragedy befell a family in Southwest Miami-Dade where a fire took the life of their dog. The incident, which occurred Sunday afternoon, saw Miami-Dade Fire Rescue units tackle a second alarm house fire along Southwest 78th Street near 135th Avenue, according to WSVN.
The flames, as reported by NBC Miami, started on the patio, and rapidly engulfed an adjacent structure and car sitting in the backyard. Despite the efforts of firefighters who responded to the vicinity of Southwest 134th Avenue, and 78th Street, the family's dog did not survive. In total, 18 fire trucks were deployed to extinguish the fire, NBC Miami details.
While the backyard of the property, including a vehicle was destroyed, officials confirmed that no human injuries occurred during the incident. At the current stage, the cause of the fire remains a mystery, pending an investigation.
