According to KOIN, the accident occurred just before 6:30 a.m. on Highway 26 near milepost 16 in Clatsop County. A red Ford F-150, driven by 56-year-old Michael Skillin, was "attempted to pass multiple commercial motor vehicles when it struck an eastbound white Ford F-350."
Following the initial collision, Skillin's vehicle then impacted the trailer of a commercial motor vehicle. Tragically, Skillin was pronounced dead at the scene, as detailed in a report by KGW. The aftermath of the crash also saw a 9-year-old passenger from the F-350 with minor injuries, along with the 50-year-old male driver of the struck pickup, both of whom have been taken to receive medical care at a nearby hospital. The operator of the involved commercial vehicle remained unharmed.
