A tragic shooting in the Bronx has left a 57-year-old man dead and a 34-year-old woman injured as reported by ABC7NY. The violence erupted amid a heated altercation involving a group of men on East 188th Street and Marion Avenue in Fordham yesterday evening.
During the incident that unfolded shortly before 7:00 p.m., a man discharged a firearm amongst the crowd, missing his intended targets yet striking two innocent bystanders, the bullets had no name on them yet they found Kevin Jennings, hitting him in the head which resulted in his demise, while another—a woman—sustained an injury to her left leg, NY Daily News conveys.
The aftermath of the shooting had Jennings, who resided in the South Bronx, succumbing to his injuries at St. Barnabas Hospital; meanwhile, the 34-year-old woman remains hospitalised in stable condition. Soon after the tragic misfire, the perpetrator stashed the weapon in a nearby store as he attempted to make his escape; however, police officials confirmed that responding officers succeeded in recovering the firearm.
The police were quick to act following the incident, detaining the shooter along with three other individuals in the vicinity, the suspect's fleeting attempt at freedom was short-lived, and charges are expected to be leviled—a detail not gone unnoticed by ABC7NY.
