Fayette County has witnessed the prowess of its K-9 unit once again after a successful collaboration between a deputy dog and local law enforcement resulted in the safe recovery of a missing teenager. The youth, a 14-year-old on the Autism spectrum, had vanished from their Bowen Street home in Stockbridge last Thursday evening, approximately at 6:30 p.m. According to News-Daily, they were not seen for more than 15 hours.
With a sense of urgency threading each moment, K-9 Odin, a dedicated bloodhound known for his "incredible nose," stepped into the search efforts led by Lt. Thamert, Lt. Santos and the Stockbridge Police Department. Straining under the disappearing daylight, K-9 Odin managed to locate the teen dispatched in no time, despite being missing for over 15 hours, who was thankfully unharmed. This comes from a report by FOX 5 Atlanta about the incident.
Turning social interactions into a search strategy isn’t easy for teens with autism who may struggle with such situations. However, for K-9 Odin, connecting with people wasn’t an issue. The Fayette County Sheriff's Office praised Odin’s dedication and focus upon his return.
