Early morning tranquility was disrupted in an Oklahoma City neighborhood when firefighters were called to tackle a blaze in a commercial area near W Wilshire Boulevard and Lyrewood Lane. According to a social media post from the Oklahoma City Fire Department, the incident occurred shortly after 7 a.m., when flames erupted in a downstairs unit and began to dangerously spread, ultimately venting into the unit above.
As a result of the rapid escalation, six surrounding units were swiftly evacuated as a measure of precaution. "The two affected units sustained significant fire and smoke damage," the fire department's post detailed.
It was a fortunate turn of events that the occupants of the downstairs unit managed to safely exit quickly and without sustaining any injuries. The root cause of the fire is still under active investigation to thoroughly understand how such an event came to pass.
